Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted he is still unsure whether Gylfi Sigurdsson will complete a record-breaking £6.8 million transfer to the Liberty Stadium. Gylfi Sigurdsson was a huge hit at Swansea (Picture: PA) The Swans appeared to be close to finalising the deal after agreeing personal terms with the Icelander but the signing was thrown into doubt by Brendan Rodgers becoming Liverpool manager. The 22-year-old scored seven goals in 17 starts for Swansea after signing on loan from Hoffenheim in January. While Swansea have a deal in place to prevent Rodgers from raiding his former club this summer, no such clause is in place to prevent Sigurdsson from joining the manager he also previously played under at Reading at his new club. ‘There is always that risk when you take a player on loan that he does well for you and other clubs then become interested,’ Jenkins said.’The fact is that he is Hoffenheim’s player, not ours, and at this stage I have no idea whether he will be coming back to us on a permanent basis.’The chairman added: ‘Gylfi’s agent hasn’t told me anything about what’s happening.’For whatever reason they have decided to draw out the process and we will probably find out a lot more about what Gylfi’s decisions are over the next few weeks.’
