Great Britain fans might still be wondering how Gareth Bale made a miraculous recovery to play in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of America after he withdrew from the Olympics with a back injury. Pain: Bale crumples to the ground after a challenge from Liverpool’s Charlie Adam in Baltimore (Picture: Action Images) But he was at the centre of a fitness scare when he was forced off during his club’s goalless draw with Liverpool in Baltimore. Just days after Spurs were accused of misleading Britain coach Stuart Pearce over the fitness of the Wales winger, Bale was substituted at half-time after being caught on the ankle by a crude challenge from Charlie Adam. The Scot’s tackle prompted a furious reaction from the Tottenham bench, led by new boss Andre Villas-Boas. Bale’s fate, though, will be the furthest thing from Pearce’s mind this evening as he hopes Craig Bellamy can shake off a knee injury to face the UAE at Wembley. Meanwhile, UAE assistant boss Hassan Alabdooli is confident of making life difficult after watching  Team GB’s draw with Senegal. ‘We are not afraid of the British team,’ he said. ‘We are not tourists here. When we play against any team, we don’t focus on the names.’
