Liverpool have turned down two bids from Manchester City for defender Daniel Agger. Tatt’s not enough: Liverpool reject second City bid for Agger (Picture: Action Images) City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to bring in another centre back this summer, to rival Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott and Stefan Savic, with Kolo Toure on his way out of the Etihad. Mancini has already seen a move for top target Thiago Silva fail, but the City manager is now hopeful of landing Liverpool star Agger – his new first choice. However, the Reds are refusing to play ball over the elegant centre back, and have snubbed City’s two opening bids, thought to be worth £13 million and £16 million respectively. Mancini is now expected to weigh up his options before making a third bid, but he is confident that Agger’s desire to move to the Premier League champions can help get a deal done. Barcelona and AC Milan are also weighing up the situation, with both long-term admirers of the 27-year-old. Denmark international Agger, who has suffered a string of injury problems in the last three seasons, is thought to be looking for a fresh start, but has two years left on his current contract and won’t be allowed to move on the cheap. Liverpool value Agger at around £20 million. Check out our latest daily transfer gossip live blog
