Italy star Andrea Pirlo has urged Mario Balotelli to join him at Juventus, after revealing he knows exactly how to get the best out of the madcap Manchester City striker. The more focused, determined Balotelli was put down to his increasing maturity, following news that he is set to become a father, but according to national team-mate Pirlo, it’s because he knows how to deal with the City striker. ‘I know how to talk to him. We both come from Brescia and when we are in the national team we speak in dialect,’ Pirlo said. ‘There was no problem with managing him in our dressing room, indeed he was very well behaved.’ Balotelli’s performances for his country have led to calls that he should return to Serie A this summer, and despite his agent saying the former Inter Milan man is worth £200 million, Pirlo believes Juve should try and buy him. ‘Would I take Balotelli to Juventus? Of course I would. I’d gladly take him to Turin. Mario is a guy who needs you to stay close to him.’ The comments come at a key time for Juventus, as they begin the hunt for a star name striker, after returning to Europe’s top table by winning the Serie A title last season. Arsenal striker Robin van Persie and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez are the Old Lady’s top targets, but Balotelli has emerged as an option in recent weeks, despite City’s refusal to sell. Juventus have budgeted £30 million to land a new frontman.
