Liverpool and Tottenham have been boosted in the race for Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez with his proposed move to Southampton on the brink of collapse. Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez was set to complete a £11.8million move to Southampton (Picture: Getty) Ramirez had announced last week that he was on the cusp of a surprise move to the Premier League new boys, who had reportedly agreed terms on a £12 million deal with Serie A club Bologna. But the Italians have since denied that a fee has been agreed, and although Ramirez has been given permission to talk to Southampton over a move, the two clubs are struggling to find a compromise on terms. Saints boss Nigel Adkins is willing to hand over up to £15 million for the 21-year-old, but Bologna feel he is worth closer to £18 million, and are aware that Liverpool and Tottenham are both hovering with significant interest. The Reds have been chasing Ramirez all summer, but have also failed to agree a fee, while Tottenham had reached an agreement last month only for the player to snub a move over wage demands. However, with his move to Southampton on the verge of collapse, both Spurs and the Reds are preparing new offers in a bid to land the highly-rated Uruguayan wideman. It is thought that Ramirez favours a move to Liverpool over the other options, but will accept any move to the Premier League in a bid to ramp up his development and boost his wage packet.
