Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has given his blessing for midfielder Nuri Sahin to join Arsenal on a season-long loan. Go forth: Mourinho gives Sahin permission to move to England (Picture: EPA) Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made securing a deal for Turkey international Sahin a top priority, after the club agreed to sell Alex Song to Barcelona for £15 million earlier this week. Talks have been progressing slowly since, but Arsenal are hopeful of finalising a move for the player in the next few days, after agreeing terms with Madrid on Tuesday evening. Sahin will move to the Emirates on a season-long loan, with Arsenal agreeing to cover his wages in full and hand over a £2million loan fee. The transfer comes after Sahin had asked if he could make a temporary move out of Madrid, having only played 10 games following his switch from Borussia Dortmund last summer. And despite interest from Italy, France and Turkey, current boss Mourinho believes 12 months in England will be crucial in the players development. ‘The Premier League is a good place for players to pick up certain characteristics which he does not have,’ Mourinho said at his weekly press conference.’It is all the same to me where he goes, but I hope it is closed soon. Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs, I have no preference.’ Sahin is expected to return to the Bernabeu next summer ahead of an assault on the Madrid first-team, but it is understood that Arsenal would have a first option to sign the player, if he became available.
