Spain starlet Cristian Tello is ready to turn down a move to Liverpool to sign a new contract with Barcelona. But despite the excellent breakthrough season, Tello struggled for match time last term and he played just four times in the league in 2011/12. Liverpool made a last ditch bid to sign him before the close of the summer transfer window and, although the clubs agreed terms over a transfer, the player snubbed a switch at the last minute. Tello has since opened negotiations with Barcelona over a extending his contract – which has entered its final 12 months – and the Spain Under-23 star could soon be ready to put pen to paper. The new deal will bring to a close Liverpool’s interest in signing Tello on a permanent deal, but Brendan Rodgers might still have the opportunity to bring him to Anfield on loan in January.
