TAO – Luis Suarez biting Branislav Ivanovic has no impact on his Liverpool future

Luis Suarez’s bite on Branislav Ivanovic in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday will have no impact om his future at the club, according to managing director Ian Ayre. The Uruguayan was caught biting down on the elbow of Ivanovic in the 74th minute of the Reds clash against the West London side, shortly before the striker went on to nod home the equaliser in the last minute of added time at Anfield. But “bite-gate” as it has been dubbed, will not see Liverpool try and offload the 26-year-old in the summer, according to Ayre, who reaffirmed their desire to keep Suarez at the club for the remainder of his newly signed contract. “It affects his future in the sense that we have to work with him on his discipline – but Luis is a very important player to the club. He’s a very popular player with his teammates.” Ayre stated. “As we keep saying, he signed a new four-year contract last summer and we’d all love to see him here throughout that contract.” The Reds managing director also confirmed the striker had been fined by the club for his actions and that th money raised would be donated to the Hillsborough Family support group. “We’ve taken action to fine Luis for his actions. Brendan has spoken to him and I’ve spoken to him, and Brendan will be working with him further on his discipline.” Ayre said. The player himself also apologies, stating on his Facebook page: “For my unacceptable behaviour yesterday, the club has fined me today.”I have asked the club to donate the money to the Hillsborough Family Support Group for the inconvenience I have created to the Liverpool fans and to Ivanovic.”
