Salomon Kalou looks set to disappoint Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle by signing for Lille following his release by Chelsea.The Ivorian became a free agent when the Blues decided not to renew his contract at the end of last season, despite him starting in both the FA Cup and Champions League finals. Salomon Kalou is set to leave the Premier League and sign for Lille (PA) Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle were all rumoured to be keen to pick up a bargain by signing the 26-year-old on a free transfer.It now appears he has decided against staying in the Premier League and is looking at options abroad.According to French television station beIN Sport, Kalou is close to agreeing terms for a contract with Lille.Les Dogues need to bring in some creative players during the summer transfer window, after losing Eden Hazard to Chelsea in a £32million deal and seeing Joe Cole return to Liverpool following his season-long loan in Ligue 1.Kalou represents an attractive option for Lille, who finished third in the French league last season, as he is available on a free and has significant Champions League experience.

We will remember him very fondly as a player but also as a man.’In his year-long stay in France, Cole scored four times in 27 appearances and played alongside Chelsea’s new signing Eden Hazard. Cole’s Liverpool career never got going first time around, with the player admitting he was ‘startled’ by the culture shock of life at Anfield.But the appointment of Brendan Rodgers, who worked with Cole during their time at Chelsea, may well have given him incentive to go back. Rodgers has described Cole as ‘a wonderful talent’.
