TALKSPORT – Luis Suarez set for scan as foot injury forces Liverpool striker out of Valerenga friendly

Luis Suarez will not feature in Liverpool's friendly against Valerenga in Norway on Wednesday because of a foot injury. The striker, heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer, will remain in England to receive treatment. Liverpool announced on their website: "He will undergo a scan on his foot later today." Despite Liverpool's explanation over the Uruguayan's withdrawal from the squad, Suarez's absence from the trip is likely to increase speculation he is on his way out of Anfield.

TALKSPORT – Anderlecht deny bid to take Liverpool flop has been agreed

Anderlecht have NOT reached an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of Oussama Assaidi. The Morocco international failed to make an impact on Merseyside following a move from Heerenveen last summer and he is surplus to requirements at Anfield. Assaidi, who has also been linked with Feyenoord and Utrecht in recent weeks, made just six appearances in all competitions under Brendan Rodgers.

TALKSPORT – Liverpool deal for Benfica defender falls through

Liverpool's move for Benfica defender Lorenzo Melgarejo collapsed over a failure to secure a work permit. Brendan Rodgers had expected to make the Paraguayan his fifth signing of the summer but the plug was pulled as the 22-year-old has not made enough appearances for his national side to trigger eligibility for a work permit. The Reds boss wants to bring in competition for Jose Enrique after loaning Jack Robinson to Blackpool. Rodgers is now eyeing two other full-backs, with the La Liga-based duo of Aly Cissokho and Guilherme Siqueira both on his radar.

TALKSPORT – Napoli agree loan deal for Liverpool’s Skrtel

Napoli have reached an agreement with Liverpool to take Martin Skrtel on loan, according to reports in Italy. The 28-year-old, who was Liverpool's player of the year for 2011/12, became a peripheral figure towards the end of last term, making just two Premier League starts between February and May. It is unclear whether he has a long-term future at Anfield and he could now move to Napoli, where he will link up with former Reds boss Rafa Benitez.
