England sweat on Scott Parker injury ahead of late Euro 2012 fitness test

England manager Roy Hodgson’s main injury concern ahead of Euro 2012 continues to be the fitness of Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker. Scott Parker is an injury concern for England (Picture: PA) The 31-year-old, who captained the Three Lions against Holland in February, was troubled by an Achilles injury during the latter part of the season and will be assessed by the England medical team on Wednesday.Hodgson will not make a final call on Parker until next Tuesday, when the Chelsea contingent of the squad, fresh from their historic Champions League win, join the rest of their team-mates at England HQ.Despite the injury concerns, Hodgson revealed last week he was confident the former West Ham man would be on the plane to Poland and Ukraine.’Scott’s had an injection which will probably take a week for us to see if it’s been successful or not’, he said.’He could still miss out, although from what I’m hearing, it won’t be a problem. He’s very confident.’Liverpool’s Jordon Henderson remains in reserve in case he fails to recover while his club team-mate Martin Kelly has joined the squad as additional cover for the upcoming friendly in Norway on Saturday.
